About Ford Aspire

The Ford Aspire, as a subcompact vehicle, was jointly produced by the South Korea's automobile manufacturer Kia Motor Corporation and the great American multinational automaker Ford Motor Company from 1993 to 1997 for the North American market. Though called as second-generation Ford Festiva in some markets, the Ford Aspire was introduced to the North American market as the successor of the Ford Festiva. Designed based on Mazda, the Ford Aspire was a short-lived model, being discontinued after 1997 with very little change throughout its tenure.
Ford Aspire was available as a 2-door and a 4-door hatchback and also was the first car in its class to have dual airbags standard and anti-lock brakes optional. It was offered in base and SE trim levels and SE trim was available for a "sport" package. The Ford Aspire was equipped with MacPherson struts suspension in the front and a torsion bar axle in the rear. During its lifetime, the Ford Aspire was powered by a 1.3 L fuel injected 8-valve inline 4-cylinder engine that could produce 63 horsepower and 74 pound-feet of torque. And this engine sent power through either a 3-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission to the front wheels. However, due to slow sales, the last Ford Aspire rolled off the assembly line on September 26, 1997.
