About Lincoln Mark VIII

Could be regarded as a member of the Lincoln Mark Series lineup, the Lincoln Mark VIII was built by the Lincoln Motor Company, which is a division of the great American multinational automaker Ford Motor Company that sells luxury vehicles under the Lincoln brand, between October 1992 and June 1998 as a personal luxury car. Originally introduced as the successor of Lincoln Mark VII, the Mark VIII shared its underpinnings with the Ford Thunderbird and Mercury Cougar. Competing against the Cadillac Eldorado, the Mark VIII slotted between the Mark VI and the Mark VII in length. Due to the major decline in sales, the production of the Mark VIII was ended after the 1998 model year and its role in Lincoln model line was fitted by Lincoln LS V8.
The Lincoln Mark VIII was unveiled by the press in March 1992 and officially introduced to the public on November 18, 1992, as a 1993 model. It was offered in only one body style, 2-door grand touring luxury-oriented coupe and it came in two trim levels: Base and LSC (Luxury Sport Coupe) as well as a Diamond Anniversary package. Featured a unibody construction, the Mark VIII was equipped with a high-strength roof, heavy-gauge steel door beams, front and rear crumple zones, dual front-side airbags, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, four-wheel independent suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars and so on. During its lifetime, the Lincoln Mark VIII was powered either a 4.6 L V8 rated at 280 hp and 285 lb-ft of torque or a 4.6 L V8 producing 290 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Both engines sent power through a 4-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels.

Lincoln Mark VIII Common Problems & Maintenance Tips

Taking your vehicle’s age into account, you will realize it is at least nineteen years old, which is not a young age for a steel-made item. For your safety, please learn about these common problems on your Mark VIII in advance:
First, for an aging model like the Lincoln Mark VIII, the engine failure often becomes the first issue that arises during your driving. I believe no one has a suspicion about how horrible consequences it could bring to your driving. Fortunately, some drivers with mechanics background offer some recognizable and simple symptoms of this issue to help you diagnose it as early as possible. At first, this will cause the whining, squealing or rattling from the engine; and then the engine will run roughly, hesitate when accelerating or stumble when driving; you may also smell an odor of burning oil in the compartment. And once your vehicle suffers from starting issues such as hard starting or inability to start and has a lit Check Engine Light, do not hesitate to inspect the spark plug, body control module, air filter, oil filter, engine mount, fuel pump and serpentine belt.
Second, considering the Lincoln Mark VIII's age, it must have experienced all kinds of horrible road conditions, which could result in serious wearing on its suspension system. In case you and your occupants have to suffer an uncomfortable and unsteady driving, you need to learn about these symptoms of this issue provided by experienced drivers. If there are clunking or grinding noises from beneath the vehicle and you find the tire wear becomes uneven and excessive and the vehicle tilt to one side; if you also feel hard to control the vehicle due to intense car vibration, unintentional steering and loose steering, then you had better make sure if the shock absorber, wheel bearing, sway bar bushing, trailing arm and coil spring insulator are working properly or not.
To enjoy a safe and comfortable ride, you need to make sure every part of it performs perfectly. Some auto parts such as the seat belt, fog light, headlight, windshield wiper, wiper blade, antenna and cabin air filter need your routine maintenance as they are vital but work under harsh conditions.
